Big Sister Jhoanne Paras and Little Brother Ethan.

Friendships and laughter go hand in hand. But fun and...Math? As strange as this sounds, this has been the winning combination for Big Sister Jhoanne and her Little Brother Ethan at the Pearl Ridge Elementary Site Based Mentoring Site. These two are in their second semester together and the opposites of their personalities have blended to form a great relationship. If friendships are based on both similarities and differences, then these two are the prototypical example of what a friendship can be. Big Sister Jhoanne is a senior at Aiea High School and is also the president of the Leo club. BS Jhoanne's hobbies include volunteering for other organizations such as her school and at local hospitals, as well as singing and dancing. Little Brother Ethan is a fifth grader at Pearl Ridge Elementary who likes to go to his friend's house and loves to play soccer. At site, they love doing homework together as well as playing games. When asked what game her LB likes to play Jhoanne replies, "He loves Connect Four, and I always lose." LB Ethan, when asked the same question replies, "I like to play Connect Four, and I always win." Between singing and dancing and playing soccer, BS Jhoanne and LB Ethan couldn’t be more different. But through Big Brothers Big Sisters (and with a little help from Connect Four) they have found one thing that they now do have in common; their friendships with each other. Though singing may not go quite well with soccer, their friendship has proven to anyone who sees them that maybe, opposites do attract after all.
